SCC President Juan Vazquez opened and closed the evening’s ceremony with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a solemn speech about the hard work and sacrifice each student makes in pursuit of his or her education. He also reminded the gathered crowd to remember the generosity of the scholarship donors, without whom the nearly $75,000 in awards would simply not have been possible.

The Associated Student Government at SCC today held the Spring 2010 Town Hall Meeting to great success. Students showed up to hear about the upcoming issues affecting their educational opportunities and voice their concerns about the direction California’s Community Colleges are going in. Among the issues discussed were a proposed fee increase to $40 per unit, being considered by the state legislature;
